Macular degeneration
Macula located on near center of retina, harbors carotenoid to absorb light signal. Because it gets closed light-sensitive cells a lot, macula is the most sensitive area.
• Dry disease: causes from macular ageing with chronic and irreversible process. It have possibility of conversion from dry to wet type.
• Wet disease: abnormal newborn capillary produced from retina to squeeze macula and extravasation if serious situation, destroying cell order and causing vision lesion
Ageing retina epithelium between retina and choroid can not prevent extension of abnormal capillary from invasion to macula. The symptoms as: Vision area is dark, twisted and blurry.
Lens degeneration/p>
Lens between iris and glass is transparent normally. It functions as the camera lens when taking a photo. Lens ageing causes weak metabolism leading to whitish and pale lens tissue and to deficiency refraction.
These diseases are not unique to elders. Either macular degeneration or cataract is caused from chronic inflammatory, diabetes, oxidative stress, and genetics; meal with high oil and sugar, less exercise, and exposure to blue light from 3C products in modern living, besides ageing.
We can not change genetics. But we can change what we can do before that will happen: Prevention is priority!
